'Best Value Winery' and 'Pinot Noir of the Year' for Fogarty Wine Group in the Halliday Wine Companion 2023

'Best Value Winery' and 'Pinot Noir of the Year' for Fogarty Wine Group in the Halliday Wine Companion 2023

We are exceptionally proud to announce some sensational results for Fogarty Wine Group in the Halliday Wine Companion 2023.

The Halliday Wine Companion is the ultimate accolade in the Australian wine awards. Each year the Halliday tasting team spend thousands of hours tasting through a vast quantity of wines from around the country, with only the most exceptional being listed in the Companion.

We are thrilled that Deep Woods Estate was crowned ‘Best Value Winery’. This award is based around a quality to price ratio rather than the most ‘inexpensive’ wines.

Halliday’s Erin Larkin captured Deep Woods exceptional value accurately when she said: “Deep Woods has been nudging this award for a number of years now, and it is the consistently high quality of wine spread over a broad range of prices that eventually got them over the line. The team, led by previous Winemaker of the Year Julian Langworthy, has shown a thrilling (some may say flagrant) disregard for accepted price point quality; ie, their entry-level wines present compelling drinking propositions, and their Reserve range (among the cheapest of the best in Margaret River) frequently blitz the competition in the quality:value stakes. Of 16 wines submitted this year, Deep Woods topped the ranks in both strike rate and number of special value rosettes (14), including five wines under $20. Immune to hyperbole, this is an estate to watch (and buy, and drink). Hearty congratulations are due.”

Lowestoft also took home another coveted award with the 2020 La Maison Pinot Noir crowned ‘Pinot Noir of the Year’.

Chief Editor for the Halliday Companion Tyson Stelzer highly reviewed the 2020 La Maison with 96 Points and said: “The 2020 vintage secures Lowestoft among Tasmania's A-league…The coiled potential on display here is something to behold, with pristine and precise black and red cherry fruit intricately woven with the perfumed allure of whole bunches and the fine-grained framework of top-class French oak. Brilliant.”
