Vibrant inky dark red with purple hues.
The nose is redolent with rich plums, dark fruits and warm spices, layered and complex.
The palate is flush and generous and exhibits amazing length with detailed tannin structure. This super-fine structure frames mulberry and blackberry fruit that cascade across the palate with wonderful exuberance and persistence.
This wine may be enjoyed upon release or cellared until 2035.
The 2019 vintage was tricky but very rewarding in Margaret River. A steady, mild season allowed for slow, measured flavour development that resulted in balanced natural acidity and lifted varietal fruit character, resulting in wines with incredible perfume, true elegance and real personality.
Sourced from the excellent and historic Abbey Vale Vineyard on Wildwood Road – amazing homage to single-site wines. This wine is 90% Cabernet, 10% Malbec and all effortless structure and appeal. Wonderful rewarding wine that showcases the influence and power of Malbec even in the smallest amounts.
The Cabernet Sauvignon was fermented solely in static fermenters. Pump-overs and delestage were used to extract fine tannin and colour. The Malbec was destemmed and transferred to an open fermenter where pump-overs and hand plunging were used. Primary fermentation occurred solely in tank before being racked to 30% new oak French barriques for malolactic fermentation. The juice was pressed to older hogsheads and barriques before barrel ageing for 18–20 months.

Context, as they say, is everything. Opened alongside the G5 cabernet from the Single Vineyard range. The points are the same, but for very different reasons. This is unbelievably delicious – the malbec adds a backdrop of salty pomegranate, raspberry and rhubarb to the chorus of cassis and exotic spice. This has a long cellaring potential, perhaps a touch behind the G5 cabernet from the same vintage, but boy oh boy ... this is going to give you pleasure, right now. Wow.97
Really enjoying this wine
Deep Woods SV Cab Malbec
A good medium bodied red with good length and fruit sweetness and a dry finish
It’s a beautiful wine and is very easy to drink. Love it
Lovely rich combo
I really love MR cab Sav and have always relished Argentine Malbec this a delightful combination deep and rich
My feedback is not about the wine specifically as much as about a comparison. After I had committed to this 2019 dozen at $45 per bottle for a 90% Cabernet Sauvignon red from Deep Woods rated at 97 by Halliday, I then received notice of your premium Cabernet Sauvignon from 2019 @ $85 per bottle. For the extra 10% Cabernet Sauvignon , I was asked to pay almost double the price. Easy decision though made without knowing that the 2019 !00% Cabernet offer was coming. I have had a bottle of the purchased wine. It will certainly benefit from cellaring so I will not drink another bottle for 4-5 years. Hope I can keep away from it for that time ? Between Deep Woods and Lakes Folly, I am certainly a committed Fogarty wine buyer . This is not for publication but for Deep Woods management. Hope to get over to WA when we are allowed in and to call in . Cheers Linton Ritchie
Full bodied wine
This wine is bold and has great length and should cellar for 10 years. It has a little acidity but the blend of cabernet and malbec is excellent. Very dark red wine.
Sublime Cabernet blend
I’ve been hanging out for 12 months to get my hands on some more of this one. Drinking great now and hopefully even more so in a couple of years
2019 Single Vineyard Cabernet Malbec
Lovely wine, beautiful colour, will appreciate a bit more time to develop fully.
