Introducing an exclusive, ultra-premium Lowestoft sparkling wine range

We are thrilled to announce the release of an ultra-premium Lowestoft Tasmania sparkling range.

Lowestoft Tasmania was launched in October 2021 and has already been awarded seven Trophies and fourteen Gold Medals, rightfully earning it's place at the forefront of the Australian and Tasmanian wine stage.

The Lowestoft estate is located on the banks of the Derwent River and was founded by Thomas Lowes in 1830. In a fortuitous occurrence, this was actually around the same time that the first Fogarty ancestor settled in Tasmania. Today, Lowestoft is an integral part of Fogarty Family Wines and honours the Fogarty family’s strong connection to the region.

Representing the absolute pinnacle of Tasmanian sparkling wine, this exclusive new range comprises of three exceptional wines: the NV Brut Reserve, 2017 Rosé and 2016 Grand Reserve.

Produced in very small quantities using the historic traditional method (the same method used to make Champagne) and carefully cellared until release, these are outstanding sparkling wines of provenance, elegance and subtle complexity.

On the Lowestoft sparkling wine launch, Tyson Stelzer of the Halliday Wine Companion said, "The Fogarty Group has established Lowestoft as a serious player in Tasmanian still wines and its first foray into the sparkling world meets the same aspiration".

We are very much looking forward to sharing this luxurious new range with you.

NV Reserve Brut

The Reserve Brut is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from two exceptional vintages, with the inclusion of five-year-old reserve wine in the liqueur d’expedition. This provides a wine with rich aromas and flavours of toasted sourdough and almond, alongside bright citrus blossom, stone fruit and a seamless acidity from exquisite cool climate fruit.

Awards and Reviews:

  • Gold Medal – 95 Points, Australian Sparkling Wine Show 2022

“The Fogarty Group has established Lowestoft as a serious player in Tasmanian still wines and its first foray into the sparkling world meets the same aspiration, not least thanks to the consulting of Natalie Fryar. This is an intricately assembled blend that achieves just the right balance between clean, cool, zesty fruit and the nutty, patisserie allure of lees age. The red apples and strawberries of pinot noir are well melded with the lemon zest of chardonnay.” – 91 Points, Tyson Stelzer, Halliday Wine Companion 2023

2017 Rosé

This Pinot Noir based sparkling Rosé was aged on lees for 44 months lending a delicious rich and textural mouthfeel alongside toasted hazelnut and vanilla. Strawberry and cherry flavours are layered with an elegant acidity, developing freshness and length on the palate.

Awards and Reviews:

  • Silver Medal – 91 Points, Australian Sparkling Wine Show 2022

“There's something mighty compelling about the texture and perfume of 100% pinot noir sparkling rosé in Tasmania, seldom achieved outside the A-list of Pipers River. For Lowestoft to attain it in southern Tasmania is a staggering achievement in itself, to do it on their first attempt is monumental. No surprise that Natalie Fryar is in the wings! Delightful, spicy, lively berry fruits deliver crunch and tang, impeccably framed by the creamy texture of lees age. Outstanding line, length and sheer, bountiful joy.” – 95 Points, Tyson Stelzer, Halliday Wine Companion 2023

2016 Grand Reserve

Only the premium cuvée is selected for the Grand Reserve, with a small portion undergoing initial fermentation in seasoned oak before the wine was matured on lees for 56 months. Mineral notes of oyster shell and slate complement a bright stone fruit acidity, nutty cashew and toasty brioche. These rich, complex layers of flavour and texture showcase the highest quality of Tasmanian sparkling wine.

Awards and Reviews:

  • Gold Medal – 95 Points, Australian Sparkling Wine Show 2022

“A newcomer with a 3-digit price tag is a bold play and Lowestoft answers every reservation in its inaugural Grand Reserve. The fruit of a single, cool, coastal site on the Tasman Peninsula, this is an elegant and graceful cuvée of pale straw hue. At 6 years of age, primary, crunchy red apple and lemon fruit uphold impressive stamina, beautifully backed by the creamy texture and spicy, toasty allure of lees age. With plenty of endurance tucked into its folds, it will take a good few years in the cellar in its stride.” – 95 Points, Tyson Stelzer, Halliday Wine Companion 2023
