vintage
2023 saw a cool, wet spring but without the intense rainfall of the mainland. La Niña impacted significantly; cool and wet summer conditions delayed flowering and led to poor fruit-set, causing low yields. Quality was high with superb fruit concentration and pristine acidity.
winemaking
Fruit was sourced from East Coast (77%), Coal Valley (12%), Tamar Valley (7%) and Pipers River (4%). Fermented at cooler temperatures in stainless steel tank with a range of carefully selected yeast strains renowned for delivering rich, spicy Pinot Gris characters. A small portion was fermented in old French oak and blended back to add depth and complexity.
