Technical
vintage
Constant spring winds during budburst caused low vine yields. The region experienced cooler than average temperatures over the growing season causing a longer ripening period with delayed harvest dates. The driest vintage to date producing extremely high-quality fruit.
winemaking
Hand-picked Pinot Noir was de-stemmed into two 4T open top fermenters with the addition of 10% whole cluster. Alcoholic fermentation was left to occur naturally with no additions. Cap management was exclusively pumping over twice daily to wet the cap and minimise over extraction. Time on skins was 15 days. The resulting wine was pressed directly to 500L French oak puncheons (30% new) where it rested with minimal intervention for 11 months prior to bottling.

Reviews
Halliday Wine Companion 2024
Pinot Noir sourced from the Woodlands vineyard in the Coal River Valley. Bright cherry fruit studded with spice, pomegranate, pressed flowers, cranberry, mountain herbs and subtle undergrowth at the core. There is a pleasing depth to the dark cherry and wild strawberry fruits with fine powdery tannins, a bright mineral-laden line and a composed, savoury swish of the tail on the exit.
