Tasting Notes
colour
Deep crimson with vivid purple hues.
aroma
The wine exhibits ripe cassis, red plums and salted liquorice aromas. High notes of cedary oak and violet add further complexity and frame this wine's underlying graphite-like minerality.
palate
The palate unfolds in a myriad of layers of red fruit with dark chocolate nuances further enhanced by subtle sweet oak characters. The long and flavoursome finish is well supported by powder-fine juicy tannins.
cellaring
This finely structured Margaret River wine will continue to improve over the next 3–5 years.
Technical
vintageÂ
The parcels of Shiraz are located on vineyard sites in the northern and north-eastern parts of the Margaret River wine growing region with these vineyards being in a more temperate climate which is ideal for the Shiraz varietal. The 2020 vintage was a brilliant season in Margaret River. A warm and dry season with below-average crop yield allowed for perfect tannin development and an incredible intensity of flavour. The resulting 2020 wines show amazing brightness and clarity, intense and charming fruit character and a youthful exuberance, which ensure enjoyment as both young and older wines.
winemakingÂ
Harvest was done during the coolest part of the night. The cool fruit was then gently transferred to a fermenter where it was cold soaked to retain fresh, vibrant aromatics, intense colour and a smooth texture. At the completion of fermentation, fruit was pressed to tank before being racked off hard lees to a mixture of barrel and tank for maturation. The finished blend was filtered once before bottling.
