Why you'll love this wine
While this variety is not as well-known as the region's Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River Shiraz is something to behold and the Redbrook Estate Shiraz is one of the best in the region, if not the country. Winner of the highly coveted Max Schubert Trophy for Most Outstanding Red Wine at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show in 2023, this is an exceptional wine showcasing the immense quality of Shiraz from Margaret River.
Evocative aromas of mulberry, licorice and black olive tapenade entice the senses. Deep cassis, peat, pepper and dark plum burst onto the palate with an intense depth of flavour enveloped by fine-grained, powdery tannins.
Tasting Notes
colour
Deep purple-black with a bright, red rim.
aroma
Vibrant, floral notes coupled with mulberry and blood plum fruits are married with complex and textural elements of fresh earth, peat and white pepper.
palate
Medium-bodied with great drive and length of flavour. Vibrancy and purity of fruit are at the forefront of the style.
cellaring
Will show youthful, perfumed notes with fresh fruit flavours upon release. For those after additional complexity and softness, five or more years of bottle age is suggested.
Technical
vintage
The 2019 growing season was not without challenge, but our mature vineyards, as always, excelled. A mild and very steady vintage allowed for slow, measured flavour and tannin development. The result is medium-bodied wines with lovely perfume and wonderful fine-boned tannin structures.
winemaking
Sourced primarily from our mature vineyards in the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River, this wine also contains one very special parcel of fruit from the more southern Karridale sub-region.
Hand-picked and cold soaked with 90% whole bunches. Wild fermentation. This wine was aged in seasoned large-format French oak for 9 months which led to lovely, savoury and peppery aromatics that define the unique style of Redbrook Estate Shiraz.

Ray Jordan's Top 100 Reds 2023
A mighty good partner to the Cabernet from the same vintage. This is thick and densely concentrated with lashings of dark plum, fruitcake and rich dark chocolate. Add to that some mulberry and savoury oak influences and you have an outstanding example of Shiraz from the heart of Margaret River.

Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion 2023
Hand picked, 90% whole bunches, wild ferment, matured for 9 months in old, large-format French oak. This kind of vinification should be more widespread in Margaret River, where the shiraz fruit doesn't respond as well to heavy doses of oak as it does in South Australia. It's a different beast here, responding to a soft hand, and this wine is testament to the goods that such an attitude can yield. Spicy, silky and plump: this is an elegant wine and it has been treated as such.

James Suckling, November 2023
Plum skins, blackberries, ground pepper, spices and earthy undertones on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and a juicy, fruit-forward mid-palate. Spiced and peppery on the finish.
91Huon Hooke, The Real Review 2023
Dusty dry earth/terracotta aromas greet the first nose, hints of brown spices, the palate full bodied and again drying and savoury, with those same baked earth notes. Closes with a firm grip of tannin.
