Why you'll love this wine
The Deep Woods Estate Shiraz et al is a consistent best seller, with quality delivering well above its price point.
Year upon year this wine is made with outstanding Margaret River fruit. Winemaking only attempts to harness the delicious flavours that are a hallmark to Shiraz and Malbec from this region. Think supple, fine tannins and juicy dark fruits mingling on the palate with elegant natural acidity.
On the popularity of this wine, Deep Woods Estate Chief Winemaker Julian Langworthy said, "The addition of Malbec gives it that x-factor, the underpants on the outside superhero style. Lowly high notes of blue fruits with a floral violet lift. It's spicy and at the same time refreshing, smooth with silky tannins. Massively drinkable. I absolutely love this wine; it has become very popular and is so well received."

Technical
vintage
We had a mild spring with adequate soil moisture, resulting in a slightly later season. A moderate summer led to ideal ripening conditions with little pressure in the vineyard and a lack of any major rain events during the ripening season. Consistently warm days and cool evenings made for great retention of acid within the grapes, whilst achieving optimal fruit expression.
winemaking
Shiraz, Malbec & Grenache were destemmed and vinified separately as well as some whole bunch fermentation on select Shiraz parcels. Pumpovers and delestage were employed to extract fine tannin, colour and vibrant fruit characters. After 12-14 days, when fruit flavour and tannin extraction were optimal, the skins were pressed, and the wine fermented to dryness in tank. The wines were then racked to French oak barrels, 15% new, for 6-9 months before blending.

Ray Jordan WA Wine Review 2024
Oh, just wonderful. Captures the essence of this early drinking red wine style that has become such a winner for Deep Woods. It’s a blend of Shiraz with Malbec and Grenache. So, it’s a sort of jumbled GSM with Malbec instead of Mourvedre. It’s so bright and vibrant with lively floral perfumed aromas and a delightful medium bodied palate of exquisite presence and balance. This is heady stuff screaming out for drinking over the next couple of years.
