Tasting Notes

colour

Brilliant pale lemon with green hues.

aroma

Delicate aromas of ripe stone fruit with notes of jasmine and baking spice.

palate

The palate mirrors this wine’s aromas alongside nashi pear, candied lemon peel, baked apples and savoury spice flavours. Rich and complex flavours with a refreshing acidity and a smooth, persistent finish.

cellaring

Technical

vintage

One of the coolest and wettest Octobers in history hampered flowering and reduced yields by 30-40%. A cooler ripening period produced wines with lower alcohol, slightly higher acidity and greater elegance.

winemaking

Fruit for this wine was selected from two distinct viticultural subregions across Tasmania. Picked at optimal flavour ripeness before gentle whole berry pressing, fermentation on full solids and minimal handling, the wine was then aged on lees for six months prior to final blending and bottling. A complex and alluring Pinot Gris, carefully crafted to highlight the purity of the unique varietal qualities.

Food Pairings

This Pinot Gris would pair perfectly with a lightly spiced Thai curry or for a summer classic, try a heaping bowl of chili mussels.

Reviews

Huon Hooke, The Real Review, December 2023

Palish straw colour; spice and stone-fruit aromas of a cool-grown gris; the palate is lean and dry with a touch of poached fruit in the core, then a very dry, savoury finish, where some grip adds a touch of firmness. There's a bit more dimension to this than most Pinot Gris'.
