2022 Single Vineyard Shiraz

The Single Vineyard Range is an exciting one for Millbrook Winery, designed to highlight the unique characteristics of only the most exceptional vineyards from across Western Australia. This wine is made in a modern, refined style to bring the purity of fruit from Frankland River in the Great Southern to the fore. 

Colour

Deep ruby to purple hue.

Aroma

Lifted and complex aromas of mulberries, fruit leather, star anise and polished cedar.

Palate

This medium-bodied wine shows off a great spectrum of ripeness layered with choc orange, plum compote, fresh blueberries and a textured gravely tannin, whilst maintaining freshness and energy throughout the long finish.

Cellaring

Delicious in its youth and has great potential to develop for a further five years.

Winemaking

Fruit was harvested from the 30-year-old Powderbark vineyard located in the Frankland River wine region of The Great Southern, Western Australia. This vineyard in particular produces high quality, cool climate fruit, with Shiraz that has a spice and bright red-fruited backbone.

The fruit was destemmed in the winery and transferred to a stainless-steel fermenter, where it was gently pumped over twice-daily for gentle extraction of tannins during fermentation on skins for 12 days. Temperatures were moderated to retain the beautiful aromatics of the Great Southern region. The wine was then pressed to new (30%) and seasoned French barriques and matured for 12 months before being blended barrel by barrel for bottling.
