Tasting Notes

colour

Vibrant purple.

aroma

Red fruit, cherry and plum with an underlying hint of blueberry, spice and violet.

palate

The wine is medium-bodied with soft, silky tannin and has amazing varietal fruit characteristics. The cherry and blue fruit flavours are juicy, sumptuous and linger on the palate.

cellaring

Drinking beautifully now and will continue to do so for the next five years.

Technical

vintage

The 2020 vintage was moderate, mild and a wonderful year. Rainfall in early January renewed canopies across the region and resulted in beautifully ripe, varietally pure wines that are brimming with perfect, delicate, natural acidity.

winemaking

The fruit came into the winery at perfect ripeness. De-stemmed into open fermenters, inoculated for both primary fermentation and malolactic fermentation. Aged in older French oak puncheons for 18 months before being prepared for bottling.

region

Geographe

Ray Jordan Wine Guide 2023

You want a ready to drink, thoroughly gluggable tempranillo? Well, here’s your pick. Plush, generous and fruit driven displaying cherry and plum flavours and a dollop of chocolate richness. A little spicy influence and a dry savour slightly dusty finish. Nice wine for the short term.

A Little Ripper

A value Tempranillo, mild tannins, black fruit flavours, tending cherry. Dry and well balance.

Typically Good Geographe Tempranillo

This is a good alternative when you want a change from drinking Cab's or Shiraz. Medium bodied with dusty tannins, characteristic of the variety. Cherry comes through. Would also make a nice red for the warmer months.

Good to see this variety shining

A really good Tempranillo to rival a Spanish Rioja. Really awesome to see this varietal in WA.
