Reviews
Halliday wine companion 2020
14 days on skins, then straight to barrel (60% new) for 19 months maturation, then a selection of the best barrels. A very expressive and fragrant bouquet sets the hares running for this intense wine sourced from the self-described jewel in Deep Woods' crown. This is a super-elegant and pure expression of cabernet with a virtually indefinite future.
97Ray Jordan, The West Australian Wine Guide 2020
This comes from a single block in the Yallingup area in northern Margaret River. Power and elegance are captured perfectly in this remarkable statement of the 2017 vintage. Has a strong bay leaf and graphite aroma. Sweet, juicy and succulent fruit qualities married with judicious use of new and seasoned oak which turns the screws to tighten things. Classic result of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. A wine that will cellar for many years. Cellar 20 years.
97Huon Hooke, The Real Review 2021
Deep purple/red colour, with a bouquet that is pungent and cassis-y, with peppery-spicy grace notes and a curlicue of gun-smoke. It has terrific intensity in the mouth. The tannins are tight and firm and fine-grained and run the length of the palate.
