Evans & Tate Redbrook Estate Cabernet Merlot Wins Best Cabernet Blends Trophy at the National Wine Show of Australia 2024
We are very proud that the Evans & Tate 2021 Redbrook Estate Cabernet Merlot was awarded a Trophy for Best Cabernet Blends at the prestigious National Wine Show of Australia last night. This was also the only wine to receive a Top Gold medal in its category.
Evans & Tate Senior Winemaker Matt Byrne was incredibly pleased with the result, and he also made a fitting tribute: “It is also a very fitting moment to acknowledge Dr John Gladstones who passed away last week. Dr Gladstones’ research led to the birth of the Margaret River wine region, as he highlighted the suitability of the area to the red winegrape varieties of Bordeaux, which inspired the first vine plantings in 1967. For our 2021 Redbrook wine, which is a blend of three of these varieties, to be recognised as one of the Nation’s best, is testament to Dr Gladstones’ belief of the suitability of the region for fine wine viticulture.”
The Evans & Tate 2021 Redbrook Reserve Chardonnay (not yet released) was awarded a Top Gold and was runner-up for the Chardonnay Trophy.
We are also very pleased that four wines received Gold Medals: Lowestoft 2021 Single Vineyard Woodlands Pinot Noir, Deep Woods Estate 2022 Reserve Chardonnay, Deep Woods Estate 2022 Single Vineyard Chardonnay and Evans & Tate 2022 Single Vineyard Malbec.
National Wine Show winners represent the best of the best Australian wines. With rigorous entry criteria, only the highest-awarded wines at qualifying Australian wine shows make it to the judging table. Show judges said: "This year we had 952 entries, reflecting the incredible diversity of our winemaking community. Trophies were awarded to wines from 12 different regions across all winegrowing states, showcasing the unique flavours and exceptional quality that make Australian wine world-renowned.
A huge congratulations to our winemaking and viticultural teams on these fantastic results.
