3 trophies and 13 gold medals at the Margaret River Wine Show 2024

The Margaret River Wine Show 2024 results were announced on Friday and Deep Woods Estate and Evans & Tate took home 3 trophies and 13 gold medals this year, which is an incredible achievement.

The Deep Woods Estate Reserve Chardonnay was awarded the Wine of Provenance Trophy for the 2023, 2017 and 2014 vintages, which is awarded to the top performing set of three wines of the same label across three different vintages. On awarding this trophy, show judges commented: "This award is a reflection of Julian's time working in Margaret River and the quality of the wines in the region getting better and better, but perhaps the ultimate acknowledgment of his drive and commitment to making the best Chardonnay's in Margaret River - from the very beginning." The Deep Woods Estate Reserve Chardonnay was also awarded the Wine of Provenance Trophy in 2022 for the 2012, 2015 and 2021 vintages.

The Deep Woods Estate 2024 Single Vineyard Albariño was awarded the Best Alternative White Trophy.

The Evans & Tate 2023 Fresh as a Daisy Semillon Sauvignon Blanc was also awarded the Best Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon Trophy.

Established in 2002 the Margaret River Wine Show has grown to become the most important event of the year for the local industry, and not only does it recognise the best wines of the region, but it also provides critical assessment from expert national and international judges.

David Bicknell, Chief Winemaker at Oakridge in the Yarra Valley, chaired this year’s judging at Margaret River HEART, which included experts from across Australia, who assessed 650 entries from ninety-one exhibitors. This year, just fifty wines achieved coveted gold medal status, earning 95 points or higher on the 100-point scale - this means FWG wines secured just over 25% of the region's golds.
