The 2017 growing season had excellent Winter and Spring rainfall, this was accompanied by quite cool temperatures. A mild summer was followed by a long and sunny autumn allowing fruit flavours to develop slowly yet fully.
Fruit for this wine was specially selected and hand-picked from six different vineyards across five distinct viticultural sub-regions in Tasmania. Fermentation was undertaken in open fermenters, with the cap of grape skins carefully hand plunged to gently extract the ripe, long tannins. Selected parcels received post-ferment maceration to layer the wine with complexity and mouthfeel.
