Brilliant purple.
Packed with primary fruit aromas of blackberries, violets and blueberries, this wine has an intriguing edge of cracked pepper and anise adding warmth and depth.
Juicy red plum and blackberry is supported by savoury oak characters and warm spice. The fruit-rich palate is supported by luscious, fine grained tannin which adds complexity and depth.
Optimum drinking within seven years from release.
The 2018 Growing season was stellar resulting in an excellent vintage. A warm yet very even and long growing season resulted in wines with an amazing concentration of flavour. One of the very best Shiraz vintages I have seen in our region.
A true favourite of the Deep Woods’ winemaking team. Each batch of fruit was handled individually from picking through to the final blend being chosen.
Techniques of whole bunch fermentation and cold soaking were used to varying degrees depending on the batch and a combination of open and static fermenters were used. Maturation was in tight-grained François Frères Burgundian oak for an average of 14 months at which time only the very best barrels were chosen for the finished wine.
