Pale gold in colour.

White nectarine and grapefruit nuances are evident with supportive spicy new French oak.

Dry, crisp acidity with nectarine, white peach and grapefruit flavours. The wine has intensity, power and richness with a vanillin oak finish – wonderful line and length.

Drink now or cellar for 5–10 years.

Hand-picked from the 52 Stones Vineyard in the Ferguson Valley and the 30yo Smithbrook Vineyard in Pemberton, chilled, whole-bunch pressed directly to French barriques (80% new) for wild fermentation and 8 months on lees. The very liberal use of new oak and barrel fermentation has succeeded in making a chardonnay that remains balanced and not particularly heavy, although in chardonnay terms is certainly full-bodied. My inclination would be to drink this by the end of (18% new), although I understand why Millbrook says now or 5-10 years

Pungent buttery nose with biscuity complexity and honeyed notes. A nutty oak driven palate that opens up to reveal nice fruit. High level of acidity on the finish.
