SV (short for 'Single Vineyard') is an exciting new range for Millbrook Winery, designed to highlight the unique characteristics of only the most exceptional vineyards from across Western Australia. In addition to Shiraz, the range features a Chardonnay. Both are made in a modern, refined style to bring the purity of fruit from these amazing sites to the fore.

Deep cherry red, purple hues.

Lifted florals, mulberry and spice.

palate

Medium-bodied, ripe red berry, cherry and bramble, beautiful lifted lavender and violets with undertones of peppery spice from the cool climate vineyard site. The tannins are ripe and silky giving this wine a long finish.

cellaring

Has great potential to continue to develop over the next five years.

The 2017 growing season was distinctively mild, meaning canopy management was very important to maintain fruit quality while the cooler weather meant a long ripening period which allowed for excellent flavour development.

winemaking

We have specifically selected this 30-year-old vineyard located in the Frankland River region of the Great Southern to source fruit for this first release Single Vineyard wine because of its high quality, cool climate fruit it produces. This region specialises in Shiraz that has a peppery, spice and red fruited backbone that can only be found in Frankland River.

Perfectly ripe fruit was hand harvested and delivered to the winery during the cool night. The fruit was destemmed and transferred to open top fermenters for fermentation, hand plunged twice daily for gentle extraction of tannins. Temperatures were kept below 25 degrees Celsius to retain the beautiful aromatics of the Great Southern region. The wine was then pressed to new and seasoned French oak puncheons, matured for 12 months before being lightly filtered and bottled.
