Deep ruby-magenta red.
Rich and spicy with lifted red and black fruit of cherry and plum supported by vanillin oak aromas.
Dry, plump and ripe tannins with plum, blueberry and cherry flavours that are enhanced with spicy supporting oak. A well balanced juicy, medium-bodied wine that over-delivers in fruit weight and length of flavour.
Enjoy now or cellar for up five years.
The 2017 vintage certainly provided some challenges to the viticultural team. An atypically cold and wet February meant that careful canopy and crop management was required to ensure the fruit quality was retained. However, the cool conditions ensured a beautiful purity of intense varietal character.
The fruit was crushed into open fermenters where it was inoculated with yeast for fermentation. The fruit was hand plunged three times daily to ensure gentle tannin extraction of tannin. Once the fruit was pressed the wine was aged in oak barrels for 18 months before bottling.
