Deep red with a purple hue.
Lifted perfumed nose of red cherries and cassis, with scents of violets and charry cedar.
A clean, pure and vibrant style. The palate is silky and smooth, with fine seamless tannins, great mid-palate sweetness and a long finish. A medium-bodied style, reminiscent of the great 1993 vintage.
Will show its full potential in ten to twelve years when it will be graceful and stylish, not unlike a great Burgundy.

The 2013 harvest commenced earlier than expected across the Hunter Valley as early as mid-January for the white varieties. While crops were lower than average due to the dry growing season, fruit colour and ripeness for red varieties looked great across the region. The Cabernet was picked throughout late February, between a few isolated rain events. However, dry, fresh and windy conditions between the showers ensured the rain had no detrimental effect on fruit quality.
All Lake's Folly wines are crafted entirely from low-yielding, estate-grown, hand-picked fruit. The fruit for the Cabernets is open-fermented to give softer, more subtle tannins, and then transferred to large old casks for six months for settling, and then into small French oak barriques (new and one- and two-year-old) for approximately one year before bottling.
